WILL ECOSENSE WORK WITH MY A/C?

The 4000/4000+ are universally compatible with any A/C that can be controlled with a remote controller. The 2000 is compatible with approx. 85% of all A/C’s that use a remote controller.

 

CAN I PAIR THE DOOR/WINDOW SENSORS WITH MY ECOSENSE 2000 OR 4000 UNIT?

No. The door/window sensors and Auxiliary PIR are only compatible with Ecosense 4000+.

 

I HAVE A NEW INVERTER TYPE A/C, WILL THE ECOSENSE 4000 WORK?

Yes, the 4000 is compatible with any A/C that can be controlled with a remote controller.

 

HOW DO I TEST COMPATIBILITY WITH THE 2000?

Look at the screen of the A/C remote, if the function symbols disappear when you switch the A/C off, then the A/C is compatible. Details of other compatibility tests, can be found on the web site.

 

WILL ECOSENSE SWITCH THE A/C ON?

No. Ecosense products are designed as energy saving devices. However, Ecosense 4000 can be used to “set back” the A/C to a more economic setting if the room is unoccupied instead of switching it off completely.

 

CAN ECOSENSE CONTROL THE A/C IF THE DOORS OR WINDOWS ARE LEFT OPEN?

The new Ecosense 4000+ has RF connectivity with a number of bolt-on optional accessories, including door and window sensors. All 4000+ accessories are wireless, with battery life in excess of two years.

 

CAN THE GUESTS USE THE A/C AT NIGHT WHEN THEY GO TO BED?

Ecosense can control the A/C as much or as little as you require. For example, you would not want the A/C in the lounge to be able to run at any time when the room is unoccupied. Conversely, in the bedrooms you can choose to allow the guest to have partial or full use of the A/C through the night. Ecosense is designed to allow you to customise the settings to suit individual requirements.

 

HOW MUCH MONEY WILL ECOSENSE SAVE ME?

Unfortunately it is very difficult to generalise regarding possible financial savings. The cost of running A/C is made up of a number of variables i.e. the size and type of AC, positioning and design of room, the local tariff rate, how the AC is used etc. etc. What can be said is that on average, Ecosense will reduce the “use” of your A/C by between 50 to 80% If you consider the hours in a day that you would spend in a holiday rental bedroom, then deduct that figure from 24, the answer is the likely number of hours the A/C could be running when the room is unoccupied.

Another consideration is the reduced wear and tear on equipment that was designed for domestic use. We estimate that the life expectancy should be increased by 30 to 50% and down time for servicing reduced. Most importantly, reducing the amount of time the A/C runs at full capacity will help to reduce the DRIPPING CONDENSATION problem !!!

 

IS IT POSSIBLE FOR MY CLIENTS TO DISABLE ECOSENSE?

The Ecosense 4000/4000+ are completely tamper proof; the renter would need to remove the A/C casing, find the IR transmitter and disconnect it.

 

HOW LONG DOES THE GUARANTEE LAST?

All Ecosense products carry a one year guarantee from the date of purchase.

 

IS THE ECOSENSE 4000 EASY TO FIT, OR DO I NEED TO EMPLOY AN ELECTRICIAN?

The Ecosense 4000 can be installed by a competent DIY’er. However if at all unsure, employ the services of an A/C maintenance/installer and not an electrician. Electricians rarely have any more knowledge regarding the internal wiring of an A/C than a DIY’er and probably no knowledge at all of the set up procedure.

 

I WANT TO USE THIS PRODUCT IN MY PROPERTY ABROAD, HOW CAN I GET HELP IF I NEED IT?

DO I NEED AN ECOSENSE FOR EVERY AC UNIT?

Yes.

 

DO I NEED AN ECOSENSE AND AN ECOREMOTE TOGETHER?

The EcoRemote does a completely separate job to the Ecosense. The EcoRemote controls how the A/C is used, when it is in use. The Ecosense controls the use of the A/C when it is not required. Both products can be used independent of each other, or in partnership.

 

WE GET A LOT OF POWER CUTS, HOW WILL THIS EFFECT ECOSENSE?

The simple answer is not at all. Ecosense use a technology called “rolling default” When the power is reinstated, Ecosense will simply go back to working as before. The same can be said for changing the batteries on the Ecosense 2000 and the EcoRemote.

 

WILL ECOSENSE AFFECT MY A/C WARRANTY?

No, there is no interface or connectivity with the internal wiring of the AC. Ecosense only connects to the power supply that feeds the A/C with power.

 

WHAT HAPPENS IF I HAVE FAMILY OR FRIENDS USING THE PROPERTY?

My advice would be to leave Ecosense as it is, family and friend are often the worst abusers of AC! If however you are feeling generous, you can simply unlock the button lock, and temporarily disable the controller.

 

I’VE HEARD THAT ECOSENSE DOESN’T WORK, AND THERE HAVE BEEN A LOT OF COMPLAINTS?

Unfortunately this is correct, but it’s not our Ecosense!!! There is in the market place a small battery powered square box, with a PIR dome in the centre of it. The product is flawed in a number of ways, and despite our best efforts, is been sold under the name of Ecosense. This is an infringement of our registered trade name, and we do where possible, take legal action to have the material withdrawn.
